Farag "Fox" Mahmoud has been operating safaris and treks since 1984 and later set up the Desert Fox Camp and Safari company with his extended family. Now it has grown and the best guides from different tribes and areas are working with him, while he looks after operations. His brother, Gabaly manages the camp which is probably the best known place now in the Sinai. It hosts a large herbal garden and students from Universities come to study botany hands-on. There is also a sizable collection of old Bedouin crafts which will be displayed in a little museum within the camp.
Farag knows every little corner of Sinai and personally looks after the operations, making sure that everything goes smoothly and people have a wonderful time. He advises on and designs special programs to suit any needs. He loves and cares for the desert and the mountains, and the Bedouin who live in these remote areas. He provides employment for camelleers and guides from all the tribes in a just system set up by the Sheikhs and the people according to traditional tribal laws, while maintains quality through his own well trained and experienced guides fluent in foreign languages and the best chefs. In his little free time he is also involved in a number of charities - water management, sanitation and educational programs - run by different Egyptian and International organizations. He and his family is respected across the Sinai by the tribesmen, authorities, operators - and countless happy tourists, many of them coming back year after year as friends. |
